American National Standards Institute

ANSI is a private non-profit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States.

Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association

BIFMA is the not‐for-profit trade association for business and institutional furniture manufacturers. Since 1973, BIFMA has been the voice of the commercial furniture industry. Their industry’s service to our customers providing healthy, comfortable, and productive workspaces rests on an infrastructure of engineering and materials standards. These standards, founded on centuries of craft and enhanced by ever-advancing science, embody the best of our knowledge on safety, ergonomics, and sustainability.

California Air Resources Board 2 Compliant

CARB2 is the 2nd phase of a strict certification process initiated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Its purpose is to reduce formaldehyde emissions in the home and to protect the public from the harmful effects of air pollution.

EFEC is a voluntary environmental management system (EMS) for furniture manufacturers. EFEC was created with the purpose of maintaining and furthering the industry’s strong environmental performance. EFEC is a set of management tools and principles that your company needs to integrate environmental concerns into its daily business practices.

 

 

FSC Certification

The Forest Stewardship Council mission is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world’s forests. Through them they verify that all FSC-certified forests conform to the requirements contained within an FSC forest management standard. FSC forest management certification confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability. There are ten principles that any forest operation must adhere to before it can receive FSC forest management certification. These principles cover a broad range of issues, from maintaining high conservation values to community relations and workers’ rights, as well as monitoring the environmental and social impacts of the forest management. FSC also provides a number of criteria relating to each principle to provide practical ways of working out whether they are being followed. Their principles have been developed to be applicable worldwide and relevant to all kinds of forest ecosystems, as well as a wide range of cultural, political and legal settings.

Greenguard Certification

The Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certification Program gives assurance that products designed for use in office environments and other indoor spaces meet strict chemical emissions limits, which contribute to the creation of healthier interiors. Achieving Greenguard Certification gives credence to manufacturers’ sustainability claims, backing them with empirical scientific data from an unbiased, third-party organization.

This is a measurable guide to the environmental impact of a building based upon design, construction, and operation.

 

MAS Certified Green

Materials Analytical Services (MAS) and was created to help consumers identify interior construction products, furniture, and furnishings which have been designed and manufactured to produce lower VOC chemical emissions.

SCS Indoor Advantage

SCS Indoor Advantage testing is done through independent laboratory partners that are accredited to the highest quality standards available, ISO 17065 and ISO 17025 respectively. Our program leverages thousands of material and furniture test results and a decade of experience in the industry to reduce unnecessary laboratory testing.
TAA Compliant

TAA compliance requires that the U.S. Government (including GSA) acquires only U.S. made or certain “designated country” end products. This means that all products must be either manufactured or “substantially transformed” in the United States or a TAA compliant country.
